“The moments here are about as real as they get...”

“But the moments are beautiful. And patients know that ‘we've got this; we've got you.’” These are some of the words we heard when we sat down with healthcare champions and friends of the Foundation and asked “What inspires you each and every day?” and “What makes the QEII a special place?”

Their answers ranged from the teamwork that makes the QEII tick, the patients and families facing some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and the exceptional, advanced care that delivers the best to our region.

We recently launched a new campaign – a new way of sharing the QEII story and highlighting the important role that it plays. We worked with QEII staff and physicians to develop this campaign with them. Their words are reflected in the language and imagery of this campaign.

You will see this campaign in the media – on television, radio, print, billboards – because we recognize an urgent need to further elevate the level of understanding of the QEII. And focus on the amazing work happening here.

Despite some of the challenges that exist in health care, extraordinary work takes place within the walls of the QEII. We know this. And we want the rest of Atlantic Canada to know this. It's time to take our place and shine a light on the life-changing and life-saving moments.

We also know big changes are coming to the QEII in the coming years. Change that is being described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity. QEII Redevelopment will be transformational and impact how care is delivered to the over one million patient visits at the QEII each year.

We, at the QEII Foundation, are excited for these changes. We know that in order for change to happen, you need to dream big and have bold aspirations. That is what we do – dream big and push to make the greatest impact we can on advancing health care, with the support from our generous donors.

We have big goals ahead of us. Raising $20-million for the QEII next year to advance care – in areas like cardiac and vascular care with Atlantic Canada's first hybrid OR, in cancer care with a new cancer therapy preparation lab, and with new research chairs in Rheumatology and End of Life care.

To do this, we need to inspire generosity from the community to support transformational projects. People give to what they understand and when they feel confident that they can help and make a difference.

We encourage you to visit QE2GotThis.ca and get to know your QEII. Watch our video, read our stories, and perhaps share your own story with us by using the hashtag #QE2GotThis.

Be loud and proud with us and celebrate the compassionate care provided at the QEII.
